YOU WA SHOCK
So, based on hints dropped in their latest teaser trailer, it seems like the Dynasty Warriors that Koei was working on based on a "popular anime" has turned out to be Dynasty Warriors: Fist of the North Star. That oughta be something. | | Wednesday, March 4th, 2009 | | 4:39 pm |
Overman King XAN
Man, I am seriously tempted to buy the Z Special Disc just based on the Overman King XAN fight. Xan sounds like one hell of an opponent. Level 70, 39,000 HP, incredibly high base stats. Unique abilities: Photon Mat Extreme (Barrier, all damage reduced to 1/10th) Overskill: "Maneuverability and Accuracy +30, casts hicchuu, hirameki, kakusei, and chokugeki every turn, negates bunsetsu and datsuryoku, uses bunshin against any opponent with 20+ less skill." Natural Attack AND Move again Natural Overskill L9 Natural Prevail L9. EN Regen. All special effects of attacks cancelled. (Apparantly includes barrier-piercing and such) Ignore Size and Focused Attack. Not unbeatable by a long shot, but depending on how he shows up, seems like it could be a lot of fun, especially if the bonus missions have skill points. Probably not actually worth BUYING the disc, but the temptation is there. Edit: And apparently I'm going to have to find some way to pick up Japanese versions of some of the GBA games for SRWK. Apparently the latest Famitsu revealed that there are unique weapons/upgrades for the main characters only accessible when a cart is in the slot. (The example they used is the protagonist having access to Orgone Cloud from SRWJ with J in the slot.) Damnation. | | Friday, February 6th, 2009 | | 5:27 pm |
The appeal of MMOs
The most frustrating thing in the world about going through games as fast as I do isn't that they don't last me as long, but that it's really hard to talk to people about them. It's perfectly fun to run through a game in a few days, but when everyone I enjoy talking to about it hasn't even started yet, it can be kinda sad to have nobody to chat about awesome moments or fun tactics with. While some MBs can work for this, it's a bit too frustrating working through trolls and Youtube-level commentary for the satisfying conversations. That doesn't stop me from beating my head against a MB, but... With MMOs, the game never ends, so there's always things to talk about, and with the minimal focus on plot and the strong focus on optimized builds, it seems like it'd be a lot easier to keep up with friends who play the same game. So I just can't figure out why MMOs don't appeal to me. It may be the time investment, especially since MMOs tend to require a lot more focus then most games. The appeal of MMOs just makes a lot more sense to me once I hear friends talking about builds and plotlines for CoH. | | Thursday, January 1st, 2009 | | 5:59 pm |
So, it appears not even Newspaper Comic Spider-Man is immune to the effects of Brand New Day. On New Years Day (presumably at the BONG on the clock) he de-aged back into college Spider-Man and is now living with Aunt-May again, with no sign on MJ anywhere. (Which the comic is quick to note.) That's right. Newspaper Spider-Man has become *more* of a loser. | | Thursday, December 25th, 2008 | | 2:04 am |
Judge Says Fox Owns Rights to Watchmen movie http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/25/business/media/25fox.html?_r=1Ver-ry interesting indeed. Now, you suppose WB could settle... but Fox is on record from earlier this year saying they want the film killed, not part of the Box Office or money. ("When you have copyright infringement, there are some damages you never recover," said a source close to the litigation.) Of course, that could be bull, and likely is, because why the hell would Fox turn down free money? Still, potentially bad news for folks looking forward to the movie. | | Sunday, December 21st, 2008 | | 11:44 am |
I am going to be awful glad when this stupid internet backlash against Japan ends so I can read about an upcoming video game without having to deal with 90% of the article being "lol, but JAPAN, ammi rite? I mean, JAPAN, it's so WACKY and STUPID, JAPAN, LOL" instead of actual freaking info. | | Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 | | 11:47 pm |
America's in awful good shape this fine fine November 4th. | | 12:01 am |
I don't care who you support. If you're an American, a registered voter, and capable of moving under your own power, get the hell to your local polling place and vote. | | Thursday, October 30th, 2008 | | 11:32 am |
I give up. I'm apparantly just not allowed to like anyone in comics anymore. Anyone I actually did like ends up maimed or killed or selling their soul to the devil. Jesus christ, they had Flash Thompson lose both his legs in Iraq? Why? | | Friday, October 10th, 2008 | | 6:58 pm |

.. So, uh.. they announced today that they're bringing Arthur Dent back for a sixth Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy book titled "And Another Thing..." .. written by Eoin Colfer, author of the Artemis Fowl series. I've read not only the entire Fowl series, but a few of this author's other books. Why the bloody dancing tapdancing HELL is Eoin Colfer writing a new Hitchiker book? He is nothing like Adams, either in humor or style. His "humor" revolves primarily around poop and vomit in every book I've touched. Maybe there are hidden depths, but writing a sixth Hitchhiker's book? I hated Mostly Harmless but Adams is dead. Let the series end. | | Tuesday, September 16th, 2008 | | 8:58 am |
So, the new Tales game (Tales of the Heart) coming out for the DS is using an.. unusual gimmick. They're releasing the game in two different versions. Same story, same characters, same gameplay, same features. The difference: One version uses super-realistic CG renders for cutscenes. The other uses hand-drawn animation. As such: I... this is just such a pointless gimmick idea that my mind is blown. I'm sure it will sell and having the option is not necessarily bad, but I'm still just sort of confused. Especially since the CGI is basically the polar opposite of what most Tales Games do anyway, going for the weird uncanny valley look instead. | | Wednesday, August 6th, 2008 | | 7:27 am |
So, they finally released info on the SRWZ original characters. I uh.. have to say, I have sort of fallen in love with the male original character's concept. http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/9749/z1aj2.jpg <- The "Gunleon" It's gimmick is that it is a SUPER CONSTRUCTION ROBOT that is piloted by a super-beefy dude and fights with a wrench. The best part: It will *have the ability to repair ally units.* Apparantly the backstory of the pilot is that he is piloting a super-awesome repairing mecha and wants to make a name as a super-awesome repairing dude, but keeps getting into fights and unintentionally earned the nickname "The Crusher." I can take or leave that, but a super-original who has the gimmick of "is a complete crap-pile mecha designed to repair stuff* is too good for me to turn down. The downside is that, of course, repairer dude could turn out to be Sanger Zomvolt in a funny hat, which would make me kinda sad. It's also going to be hard not to compare it to GaoGaiGar, especially with the construction tools gimmick. I really hope it doesn't just turn out to be Sanger piloting Knockoff GaoGaiGar. Super Repairer Robot also begins on Crap-Pile World along with series like Turn-A Gundam, King Gainer and Aquarion. http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/2122/z2zy4.jpg <- The Balgora, the original female real. I'm not as excited about this, to be honest. It looks like an okay machine, but it is hard to get excited over Yet Another Gun-Equipped Real when you've got Super Construction Robot on your side. The gimmick that is hinted at is that she and her two pals down there will form a squad of three reals, which I could completely deal with as a gimmick with the Tri-Battle system. Her outfit is almost tame by SRW standards as well, especially since she's in the same game as.. well. She begins with Zeta Gundam, Gravion and Orgus. The other two on that page apparantly are the original rivals. The vampire mecha is the guest-design by Obari and is piloted what apparantly appears to be an elf or vampire who is, of course, voiced by Hidori Midorikawa. SRW Fans are already claiming that his name is an anagram for Masaki's, but I can't really confirm that. The other one is just pretty clearly Excellen and Aqua fusing while piloting a gattai of Rein Weissritter and Angelg. Nothing says demon from hell like *pink* | | Tuesday, July 29th, 2008 | | 12:55 am |
Why on God's green Earth did they cancel GHOSTBUSTERS in favor of motherfragging Spyro the Dragon. | | Sunday, June 29th, 2008 | | 8:25 pm |
WALL-E.
See WALL-E. Seriously. Go see it now. That is all I can say. | | Saturday, June 14th, 2008 | | 7:06 am |
Well, crap. Apparantly my computer can't even handle the Spore creature creator, let alone the main game. I guess I'll have to settle for browsing the Sporepedia instead. | | Wednesday, June 11th, 2008 | | 8:06 am |
Donno if this is a good idea or not but....
If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want -- good or bad. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified)about what people remember about you. | | Wednesday, April 16th, 2008 | | 1:38 am |
So, new Super Robot Wars announced. Super Robot Wars Z for the Playstation 2. Strangest damned series lineup I've seen in a while. Orguss Gravion Gravion Zwei Aquarion Gundam SEED Destiny Eureka Seven Overman King Gainer Baldios Zeta Gundam movies Mazinger Z Great Mazinger .. I'm kinda curious. Just the chance to have King Gainer Monkey Dance all over either Kira or Shinn is worth it. | | Tuesday, March 18th, 2008 | | 4:53 am |
Jeez, first Valkyrie Profile Ds and now Persona 4. It's a good month to be ... well, me and the few other people who care about those games. The biggest surprise in regards to Persona 4 is the system: Playstation 2. |
